Beijing-led hydrogen pilot launches with a four-year target of over 100 stations
The Daxing-led city cluster launched on 21 October with targets spanning fuel-cell transport, industrial hydrogen and emerging uses. The figures describe planned outcomes.

The story explained
Beijing’s government portal reported on 22 October 2026 that the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei comprehensive hydrogen application pilot cluster launched at the China National Convention Center the previous day. Led by Daxing, it involves 13 cities or districts across Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Shanxi, Shandong and Inner Mongolia.
The four-year demonstration plan targets at least 12,000 fuel-cell vehicles and a hydrogen highway network comprising six main corridors and 11 branches. It also targets a total station stock exceeding 100. That is an end-period stock target, not an announcement that 100 additional stations will be constructed.
Industrial plans include five demonstration bases covering applications such as hydrogen chemicals and metallurgy, plus more than 20 innovative projects involving two-wheel vehicles, forklifts, data centers and combined heat and power. The announcement does not provide individual equipment lists, valve specifications or awarded procurement contracts.
Why it matters
Editorial analysis: Vehicle refueling and industrial hydrogen involve different pressure, flow, purity and duty requirements. Specific equipment selection depends on project engineering and procurement documents.
