The story explained

FERC issued a draft policy statement on 15 October addressing operational air-quality analysis for Natural Gas Act projects under NEPA, in docket PL26-3-000.

The proposal would stop requesting applicant air-dispersion modelling or relying on it for this assessment. Other applicant and staff-identified information would support the analysis.

FERC said its NEPA documents would still address air-quality effects, alongside existing Clean Air Act protections. This announcement is not approval of a pipeline, LNG terminal or compressor station.
