Catch-up: Técnicas Reunidas wins two hydrogen reformers for Ethiopia
The 28 October announcement covers design through FOB supply for the Gode ammonia and urea complex, within 18 months.

The story explained
Catch-up addition: Técnicas Reunidas announced on 28 October that Dangote had awarded it two hydrogen production reformers for an ammonia and urea complex in Gode, Ethiopia. The announcement’s original date is retained.
TR-Technical will undertake design, procurement, manufacture and FOB supply within a maximum of 18 months. Topsoe will license the reformer technology. The release provides no contract value or valve subcontractor.
The disclosed hydrogen capacity exceeds 200,000Nm³/h, without clearly stating that this applies to each reformer. It is therefore not presented as a per-unit rating. The hydrogen will support ammonia and urea production at a proposed complex with annual urea capacity of three million tonnes.
The project is intended to use Ethiopian natural gas, reduce fertiliser imports and serve neighbouring markets. Natural-gas reforming differs from renewable electrolysis; the announcement does not establish carbon-capture configuration, actual carbon intensity or operating status.
Why it matters
Editorial analysis: Reformer delivery involves high-temperature process duties and control interfaces, but the confirmed award is for reformer equipment; pump and valve specifications and suppliers remain undisclosed.
