Rio Grande LNG Train 6 receives FTA export authorisation for 312.05 Bcf a year
DOE Order 5504 of 19 October authorises exports to qualifying FTA destinations; it does not establish non-FTA approval, FID or equipment awards.

The story explained
DOE issued Order 5504 on 19 October authorising Rio Grande LNG Train 6 to export up to 312.05 billion cubic feet per year of gas equivalent from its proposed Texas facilities.
The order covers qualifying free-trade-agreement destinations. Its term ends on the later of 31 December 2050 or twenty years after first commercial export, subject to destination and reporting requirements.
Progress and relevant long-term contracts must be reported. This milestone is specifically an FTA export authorisation: it does not establish non-FTA approval, construction completion or final investment approval, nor identify cryogenic equipment contracts.
Why it matters
The authorisation addresses one export-market requirement; construction permission, financing and equipment procurement remain separate milestones.
Relevant toProject owners, EPC contractors and valve, pump and automation suppliers
What to watch next
