The story explained
Veolia announced an industrial effluent-treatment contract for Arauco’s Sucuriú project on 2 November, with planned capacity of 10,600 cubic metres per hour.
The scope covers design and implementation of the treatment plant. The associated pulp mill in Inocência, Brazil, is a US$4.6 billion project targeting 3.5 million tonnes of short-fibre pulp annually and startup in late 2027. The mill investment is not the disclosed value of Veolia’s contract.
The process uses biofilm activated sludge, combining a moving bed bioreactor with activated-sludge treatment to intensify biological treatment within a compact footprint. Proprietary belt presses will provide sludge dewatering.
Veolia compares the organic treatment load with that of a city of three million people. This is a supplier-stated equivalence, not an actual municipal service population or measured operating result. The release gives no pump or valve supplier list.
Why it matters
Continuous industrial effluent treatment involves influent, effluent, aeration and sludge flow control, with maintainability and load variation relevant to integration.
