The story explained

Veolia announced on 27 October that EPC contractor Kanadevia Inova selected it to supply two CO₂ purification and dehydration units for the Protos waste-to-energy carbon-capture project.

The Encyclis project near Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, is designed to process 500,000 tonnes of waste annually and generate 49.9 MW. Its capture facility targets approximately 370,000 tonnes of CO₂ per year. The equipment award does not establish operating performance.

Compact modular treatment units will condition captured gas for onward transport and storage while fitting restricted building space. The announcement supplies no numerical purity specification or named valve, pump and instrumentation suppliers.

Conditioned CO₂ is intended to enter the HyNet network for storage in depleted Liverpool Bay gas reservoirs. Mid-2029 remains the planned operational date, rather than a completed commissioning milestone.

EDITORIAL INTERPRETATION

Why it matters

Editorial analysis: Purification, dehydration and pipeline interfaces need coordinated specifications. Moisture and impurity limits should come from project documents, not assumed requirements.

What to watch next

Follow equipment delivery, commissioning, pipeline access and storage readiness. Planned capture capacity is not a measured emissions reduction.
