Beijing energy plan targets gas resilience and ageing-network renewal
Beijing's development and reform commission published its October 28 explanation of the city's newly issued 2026–2030 energy-system plan. Gas storage, heating systems and ageing-network renewal are relevant policy areas for pipeline and flow-control suppliers.

The story explained
Beijing’s development and reform commission published its October 28 explanation of the city’s newly issued 2026–2030 energy-system plan. Gas storage, heating systems and ageing-network renewal are relevant policy areas for pipeline and flow-control suppliers.
The plan targets gas-storage capacity equivalent to 7.8% of natural-gas consumption and calls for further renewal of ageing networks, digital upgrades and intelligent management. These are planning objectives, without a valve procurement schedule or individual contract values.
Other targets include 44 GW of incoming transmission capacity, 99.998% electricity-supply reliability and a 27.6% non-fossil share of energy consumption. Renewable-energy heating is targeted at 15% of heated floor area. These are future objectives rather than achieved operating indicators.
The official review separately reports 2,181 km of gas-pipeline renewal and 8,282 km of heating-pipeline renewal during 2021–2025. Implementation will involve detailed tasks, monitoring and periodic evaluation. Those historical works should not be added to the new targets as a measure of future orders.
Why it matters
Editorial analysis: The plan supports a demand context for gas safety, heating control and condition monitoring. Purchases depend on individual approvals, funding and tenders.
