China's September PPI rises 5.0% as metal input trends diverge
September producer-price data released on 14 October show sharply different trends for non-ferrous and ferrous inputs.

The story explained
China’s National Bureau of Statistics reported September factory-gate prices up 5.0% year on year and 1.2% month on month. Purchase prices rose 6.9% annually; these are industrial indices, not valve quotations.
Non-ferrous materials and wire inputs rose 20.0% annually, while ferrous materials fell 0.4%. Fuel and power rose 13.6%, and chemical inputs increased 12.6%.
The series uses a 2025 base from January 2026. Cost comparisons need consistent periods and separate quotations for actual material grades, dimensions and delivery terms.
