Honeywell launches Forge Plant Cognition with initial Dangote refinery deployment
Honeywell announced Forge Plant Cognition on 26 October, launching first at Dangote’s Lekki refinery in Nigeria. The industrial AI platform combines process expertise and automation with tools for identifying operating constraints and equipment issues.

The story explained
Honeywell announced Forge Plant Cognition on 26 October, launching first at Dangote’s Lekki refinery in Nigeria. The industrial AI platform combines process expertise and automation with tools for identifying operating constraints and equipment issues.
Built on Forge Cognition, the platform is designed to combine live operating data, engineering knowledge, UOP process expertise, calculations and physics-based models. Honeywell identifies three aims: improving operating margin, protecting production and embedding specialist knowledge in engineering and operator workflows.
Dell AI Factory with NVIDIA and Dell Services support the platform. NVIDIA models and software provide capabilities for understanding operational data, digital twins, visual anomaly detection and physics AI modelling. These are vendor-described capabilities and planned applications, not independently verified site performance.
Honeywell’s preliminary estimate exceeds US$0.29 per barrel and US$60 million a year in gross operational benefit at full-capacity throughput for this refinery. Implementation costs are excluded. Results depend on factors including crude slate, operating conditions, utilization, baseline performance, data quality and product margins; the estimate is not guaranteed or an achieved saving.
Why it matters
Process-optimization software can connect equipment condition and process constraints with operating decisions, but value depends on site data and implementation. The announcement does not establish new valve-hardware orders.
