The story explained
Transition Industries announced on October 28 that it signed a definitive EPC agreement with Siemens Energy and Techint E&C for an approximately 210 MW electrolyzer facility at Pacifico Mexinol in Sinaloa, Mexico. Project financing and other customary conditions remain outstanding prerequisites.
The agreement follows the FEED contract announced in August 2025. Siemens Energy’s Elyzer P-300 technology is planned to produce renewable hydrogen for the proposed 6,130-metric-tonne-per-day low-carbon methanol complex, including renewable fuels of non-biological origin, or RFNBO.
Construction is expected in early 2027 subject to those conditions, with the complex planned to operate in 2030. These are developer expectations; signing the EPC agreement does not establish completed financing, unrestricted construction commencement or commercial production.
The stated annual product mix is approximately 175,000 tonnes each of RFNBO and recycled-carbon-fuel methanol, plus 1.8 million tonnes of low-carbon natural-gas-based methanol with carbon capture. EPC value, pump and valve supplier lists and detailed electrolyzer operating conditions were not disclosed.
Why it matters
Editorial analysis: The EPC framework advances hydrogen-utility and methanol-system interfaces, while equipment procurement timing remains conditional on financing and engineering.
