Seatrium signs for five Whale Class powership conversions
Engineering is under way, with the first vessel targeted to enter the Tuas Boulevard yard in December 2027.

The story explained
Karpowership announced on 23 October that Seatrium will carry out major conversion and integration work on five third-generation Whale Class powerships. Engineering activities are already under way.
Seatrium’s scope comprises equipment integration, mechanical completion and pre-commissioning. The first vessel is targeted to arrive at Singapore’s Tuas Boulevard Yard in December 2027. This is a planned yard-arrival milestone, not an announced delivery or grid-connection date.
The issuer describes the vessels as using hydrogen-ready, multi-fuel generating systems with onboard substations connected to national grids. The Whale Class is designed for up to 600 MW of generating capacity; this is a class capability, not commissioned capacity across the five vessels.
The contract follows an August 2025 letter of intent covering three FSRU conversions and potential integration of up to six next-generation powerships. The firm scope announced now is five powerships. No contract value or pump and valve procurement schedule is disclosed.
Why it matters
Multi-fuel vessel integration entails fuel-transfer, utility and control interfaces. This announcement does not identify valve brands, quantities or available subcontract packages.
