Guangyuan Unit 2 completes 168-hour trial, bringing the full project into operation
Both 1,000 MW units are now in operation; the new milestone is Unit 2's completed trial.

The story explained
China Energy Engineering reported on 21 October that Guangyuan Unit 2 entered operation on 20 October after a 168-hour trial. This brings the complete project into service.
Located in Lizhou, Guangyuan, the project comprises two 1,000 MW ultra-supercritical coal units with flue-gas desulfurisation and denitrification. Unit 1 entered service on 25 June and is not a new milestone here.
Southwest Electric Power Design Institute led EPC delivery, Central Southern institute supervised construction and Northwest Electric Power Research Institute handled commissioning. Expected annual generation exceeds 9 billion kWh; this is prospective output, not an achieved annual total.
Why it matters
